Naturally our heads have started turning towards our summer in the U.S..
Today, in one of those "it's a small world" encounters, I had a meeting to talk about government bidding in Jordan and the guy who was visiting here from the U.S. was someone that I worked with in Kansas City when I was at Accenture a zillion years ago. He now lives near us in DC and was able to share this anecdote about our Starbucks.

i have a Starbucks in my building and have never seen a handgun in there (well, ok, except for on the cops). COME HOME!!!
Any word on whether you will be permitted to enjoy the vacation you've already paid for, at what should be the end of your tour of duty?
If they balk, I'd just submit an expense report with your vacation as the line item, saying that the job is responsible for you not getting value from this expense, and therefore should pay. :)
Would seem D&DinJ has already checked out for home...no update in a month?
